Is it possible to reload vista without losing any of your othe
programs, as I have lost the use of defragmenter and disk check and i
will save me a lot of hassle if i can do this, any help please

Vista's installation mechanism is significantly different from that of
earlier Windows operating systems, and it's not possible, sadly, to
perform the precise sort of repair installation to which we'd become
accustomed.

What's described isn't what I'd consider a true repair installation, as
it requires one to be able to first successfully boot into Vista to
implement it. It might be useful for correcting some issues, but it
clearly cannot perform the full range of repairs offered by Win2K and WinXP.
