Remote assistance between XP and Vista

Hi,

I have been using Windows Live Messenger remote assistance quite a bit to
connect to friends. I've been using XP and so have they. I now have an
instance of Vista Ultimate on my PC and a friend tried to trigger a remote
assistance connection. However, the connection just seemed to hang with no
obvious error message.
My question is 'Does Windows Live Messenger support Remote Assistance
connections between Vista and XP operating systems?'

Thanks
zarbiker

Greetings,

Yep, it's backwards compatible, believe it or not so it actually should work.

You can't, however use the "offer Remote Assistance" to an XP user though.

At what point is this "hang" occurring?

Jonathan,

Well I guess I hadn't tried hard enough. I reattempted requesting a
remote assistance session from XP to Vista and was successful. Sorry for the
false alarm.

Thanks,
zarbiker
