Remote Assistance usage

When I try to launch the request remote assistance. It says the following,
"Your invitation was not sent because you need the latest version of
Messenger to use the Remote Assistance feature. Please go to the Windows Live
Messenger update site to install the latest version". but we both have the
latest version of Messenger 8.5. How to fix plz

Greetings John,

What the message really means (it's been stated wrong and apparently the Messenger team is
"too busy" to fix the link) is that you need the latest Windows Messenger (not Live) release
installed in order to do Remote Assistance within Windows Live Messenger.

As such, you just need to download and install this:

After that, it should work as you would expect.
