Whatever were they thinking at Microsoft making Remote Assistance impossible
for the Advanced User
with a Vista Machine trying to connect to an XP machine to give someone
help?
Does Vista work with Vista for remote assistance?

The ability to connect through Window Messenger or Windows Live Messenger
was so easy with XP to XP.
Now the XP client (I am the Host) has firewall settings that block the
automatic Remote Connection.
Unlike before, I could connect, go into their system settings and set things
right immediately. I cannot do that
now without having them change the firewall settings, which as this moment,
I have not seen anything at Google
about what the settings look like that need to be changed.
I don't encourage my family or friends to use "just" the Remote Assistance
application, it's much easier (or was) using
Messenger because they did not have to do anything but Request and Accept.
Thanks for help.

Greetings,
Remote Assistance has changed significantly in Vista, but it's backwards
compatible with
what's in XP. In fact the connectivity for Remote Assistance in Vista has
greatly improved.
I admit it's certainly not perfect mind you.
May I ask what process you're going through to initiate a connection and
what error messages
you're seeing?
