I can send the request for remote assistance to another computer on my home
network and accept it but the remote assistance window never opens. Ideas?
I've tried it with the firewalls off and still the same problem.

Are you referring to the Windows Firewall? If that is still enabled, make
sure you have "Remote Assistance" checked in the exceptions list. Also, what
type of NAT are you behind? Tools -> Options -> Connection -> Connection
Status -> "You are connected to the Internet through <Connection_Type>"

I am having the same problems as chr1stophert except that I am using this on
a university network and the windows firewall has been set properly. A user
Nancy sends me a request for remote assistance and I accept but nothing
happens. Does Nancy have to do something after that? If so what?

Windows firewall is enabled with exception for RA (also tried it with Windows
Firewall disabled - still no dice)

Can you and your friend both:

1) Turn on connection logging.
2) Sign-out / Sign-in.
3) Try RA.

Email both your connection logs (msnmsgr.txt) to .

Thanks,

Duoc

Make sure your status shows you as 'online' as I had this problem when I had
set myself to 'appear offline'.
