Hopefully a simple question:

I connected from my new vista laptop to my XP pro desktop computer
with remote desktop with the disk drives option turned on. But when I
try to copy something from the remote drive to the local drive I
always get the message "unable to create folder". I am guessing vista
is so paranoid it wont let that happen. Is there a security setting to
fix that?

Thanks!

Scott

1) Make sure they are in the same workgroup
2) Make sure you have the same logon/password on each machine
3) Make sure share permissions allow "Full" (not file permissions but Share
permissions)
3) Make sure file permissions allow read/write/change

Try again...

Quick answer or solution to my own question here for anyone else who
might be looking.

I haven't done a lot of tests yet but I found that I could copy to the
Music directory in the User directory. Often when I'm copying from one
system to another with Remote Desktop I just quickly drag the files to
the drive letter and copy them to the root and reorganize them later,
rather than wait for the whole directory structure to load up, which
tends to be slow acress the internet. So I'd say that there is simply
higher security for these system areas in Vista and thats why it didnt
let me copy.

The only problem with this theory is that I'm almost positive that I
tried to copy to a directory that I created, so futher tests are
needed.
