Hello.

I recently upgraded my laptop and had it installed with Vista Home Premium.
My work computer runs xp pro. I was using the remote desktop feature
successfully with my old laptop (xp home) to access my work computer. How do
I access the work computer with my new laptop?

Thanks,
Ryan

You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to remote (host) computers running the following editions of Windows Vista:

• Windows Vista Starter
• Windows Vista Home Basic
• Windows Vista Home Basic N
• Windows Vista Home Premium

However, any edition of Windows Vista can be running on your computer (the one you want to connect from).
You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to remote computers running Windows XP.

This MVP is not very smart. READ. The person is trying to connect to an XP
machine from a Vista home machine. This is possible.....the problem is there
is a bug in vista when connecting to xp sp2. Have you tried the hotfix KB
937385. Look in the eventlog on the vista machine and see if you are getting
the errors listed in the KB article.

Hope this helps.
