Greetings Ron,
Unfortunately Remote Assistance really only has one error message and that's it.
Usually this just means that it couldn't connect to your contact. In order for it to work,
any third-party firewalls will probably need to be deactivated unless they're explicitly
prompting for each connection and if one is using a router, the router must support Universal
Plug and Play (UPnP) in order for the correct port to be forwarded and external IP address
obtained.
You can check your UPnP status by clicking the Tools menu (or pressing Alt-T if the menu is
hidden), then Options, then Connection category and waiting a few seconds for it to detect
your connection. Of course, if you're directly connected then UPnP won't be an issue.
