I have a client running SBS 2003, that uses Remote Web Woekplace

They have a user that is running an acre aspire 5810t. (Vista Installation)

The issue is the user is complaing that no matter what display mode he is
set in, Full Screen, 800x600, ...(in the Remote Desktop Options). When he
logs in he receives the X and Y axis scrollbars.
I have confirmed with other user account on the domain this is not a problem.
I have confirmed with other servers on the domain this is not a problem.

ONLY on his computer using Remote Web Workplace do I get these scrollbars.
I have tried just using Remote Desktop from the computer and going directly
to our terminal server and it works perfectly.

I have no idea why on this computer I would get such a bizarre issue.

any help would be thanked

If any other info is need please post and I will reply asap

Hello,

Thanks for your post and Merv's input.

In addition, please try to install/reinstall the latest Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 client update on that problematic Windows Vista client to have a try:

Description of the Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 client update for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) for Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1, and Windows Vista SP2

If the issue persists however, you may consider a Clean Boot on the Windows Vista client:

Clean boot
=================
Let's disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please
perform the following steps:

1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.

2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility
when Windows starts" box and click OK.

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry
is causing the issue.

For more information about this step, please refer to the following KB article:

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info I will try the re-installation of the rdp client.. I have
already tried the default.rdp suggestion.

I guess what confuses me the most about this problem is rdp works 100%
correctly when used on the local computer (like going to start > run >
mstsc). Only when going through RWW do I run into this issue.

Hello,

Thanks for your response.

Please go on to try the re-installation of the RDP client steps. As you indicated, the when user click the Connect button to connect to the remote client computer, the RWW
procedure actually call the same RDP session with 3389 port. So if direct RDP works, the remote RWW connection should also work as expected. I suspect there is any
process that conflicts with RDP session on that local Windows Vista that caused this issue. That's why I recommend you run a Clean Boot on the client.

BTW, please also check the display resolution and change it to different/lower mode, then test if that changes. Thanks.
