Removal/Deletion of Security Update Folders

Security updates have been coming in a lot lately (by bulk, really) since
I've hooked up my PC online. They came in with a lot of folders (with lots
of contents/files) and they are occupying a lot of space in my PC. Can I
delete them or remove them or whatever, after they were installed? If I
would, could something possibly go wrong? Pls. Advise. Thanks in advance!
