Removal of an icon from the control panel under Vista

Does anyone know how to remove an icon from the control panel. I have
an icon for HP Scanjet Scanner on the panel but there is no HP scanner
attached to the computer.

If uninstalling the scanner software / driver doesn't do it, look in
C:\Windows\System32 for a file called HP<model#>.cpl and delete it.
You'll probably have to go through some UAC / permissions hoops to do
it.
