Its win XP pro

Device driver updates do not have KB numbers, and they cannot be removed
using control panel "Add or Remove Programs".

The problems you now have stem from you selecting "uninstall" in device
manager: that is precisely what Windows has done, and Windows now requires
you to re-install from scratch, i.e. from the CDs etc. You cannot recover
from this by removing the device driver updates, as the device drivers have
been uninstalled, and there are no updates to roll back from.

The correct way to back off from an unwanted device driver update is to
click "Roll back driver" in Device Manager, tab Driver. But now you have
uninstalled it is too late to do that.

You can try either of these:
1. Use System Restore to back up to a date before the unwanted updates.
2. Press F8 during boot-up and select "Last Known Working".

No, you don't have to reformat again, but now that you have reformatted, you
have to find for yourself all the drivers that you hardware requires.
Windows cannot do this for you. You should consult the manufacturer of your
PC. ~Normally each Pc comes with a CD which contains appropriate drivers.

Sorry, but I have not been unable to understand what you are asking here.
Can you explain more carefully what your enquiry is?

After i reistalled Windows XP i downloaded lots of updates via automatic
update service
Then i went to look at the "Custom download update" part and downloaded a
couple of items i beleive are responsible for the situation (maybe i'm wrong!)

What items? Be specific.
What situation? Describe all the symptoms.

You must install the correct device drivers from the manufacturer of each
device. For instance "Digital Still Camera" is something that you willl
have previously installed on the PC, which you can install again.

You can also obtain better information by right-clicking on the item with
the yellow question mark, selecting "Properties" and looking for a message
telling you what is wrong with this device. For instance, you might be able
to discover the identity of the device or manufacturer's name.

This isn't actually a Windows Update issue, so this thread is a little
off-topic for this newsgroup.
