remove downloaded update without installation

I am sure this question has been asked many times but I can't readily find
the answer. I downloaded a series of updates for XP-SP2. They all
installed except for one which was for Macromedia flash player. I am using
the newest version of Adobe Flash so I don't need that update and it won't
install anyway. However, I now have the yellow shield in my notification
area indicating there is an update ready for installation. How do I get rid
of the downloaded file so the yellow shield will not be there any more?

It will be located in

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\download

You may or may not have to stop the WU service.
