I have an icon on my desktop (shortcut) for a printer support program. I
dragged this into the upper left corner of my start menu (I dragged the
desktop icon to the start button). Everything works OK but I have a
question, how can I get rid of the icon on the desktop without also losing
the shortcut on start menu?

They should me mutually exclusive, in other words the presence of one
shouldn't effect the other. What happens if you delete the shortcut on
the desktop? The one on the Start Menu should remain and still work
fine.

Hi Bob,

You can move the shortcut into the "All Programs" area of the Start
menu, and Pin it from that location to the Start menu instead.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

They are actually two different shortcuts. You can just delete the desktop one.
