remove invalid icons from vistas control panel??

Any ideas how to remove invalid icons from vistas control panel.
I did a search for cpl and I assume that vista no longer uses control
panel applications that have that extension.
I search through the registry with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jawdoc,

Run regedit, look under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace

Check the various subkeys for one that corresponds to the unwanted
applet(s). Backup that key, then try deleting it.
