Hello

I am on a laptop and desperate for task bar estate. I know you could d
this for XP, but it isn't the same for vista. I want to remove the star
button. I would just use the Win Key to open my menu. So does anyon
know how

Why not auto hide the taskbar?

Hi,

Vista is exactly like XP in this manner, simply use auto-hide from the
taskbar properties. It's on the general tab.

I think the OP wants more space to show running apps, so auto hide alone
won't solve this.
I reccomend dragging the taskbar up to be 2 rows high, maybe even 3.Then set
it to auto hide if it uses too much space.

I use True Launch Bar, which permits "stacking" internet
apps, office apps, utilities, media apps, etc. each atop
one icon. And, it allows me to lose the Start button...

Free Launch Bar is almost as functional and, of course,
costs nothing.

Either will quickly become your single most useful
add-on. I'm not Russian, so I don't work there...
