Can I remove updates and hotfixes from the add or rremove program listings
without uninstalling them,they are taking up too much room

If you're using XP, you can just uncheck the 'show updates' box at the top
of the Add/Remove page

I don't have an option to show or not show updates. I have xp home.

If you remove the hotfixes, etc, from the add/remove page, you will remove
those hotfixes, etc from your pc.

You should have the option! (are you in an Administrator account, or a
limited user account?)

Check out the two utilities below. I use both of them. I run Win XP Hm Sp2.
The first one deletes windows update backup copies; the 2nd one lists all
updates installed.

Remove Hotfix backup, available here...
