How to remove window update patches

I recently had a problem with my hotmail and it wouldn't allow me download
attachments, so i got on to some forums and one said that i needed to remove
such a windows update from the systen and it would work, i went to add remove
programs but i couldn't see it there i was wondering is there a way of
removing them, i know its not advisable to do so but the forum also said
micosoft are working on a fix for it and this would be a temp. measure. does
anyone know how to remove them.

Disclaimer: It is highly ill-advised to remove the latest security &
critical updates.
Your time is better spent tweaking your browser OR your email program (if
you have POP3 access to Hotmail).
What is your email download mechanism? Browser, Outlook or ???
