Remove Windows Update from Windows 98

I can't get this thing off my pc. I removed the program (that didn't work at
all), removed my task manager too (that worked better), and it STILL takes
over my homepage every once and a while. A few days before it shows up, my pc
slows to a crawl and I know it's coming. It's so frustrating that every
single subject known to man is on this site EXCEPT how to REMOVE windows
update. And now they want $35 to gimme support. Can anyone PLEEZ tell me how
to get this thing OFF ME?!

You should be able to remove it in the windows system folder.
