Removing domain controller - can I still log in?

If I convert my network from a domain to a workgroup will I still be able to
log into my local Vista machine using the same user ID and have all my
settings retained? If not, is there a way to clone them from one user to
another?

If you remove your machine from the domain and put it in a workgroup you
will not be able to log onto it at all unless you know a local administrator
account or until you have your IT staff rejoin it to the domain.

I know a local admin account and my domain login is set up as a local admin
as well. My only real concern is that I will lose all my settings from my
current login. Is there ANY way to avoid this? Can settings be exported
and imported or transferred using Easy Transfer or something similar?

EasyTransfer should work. And yes, you would lose all your customized
settings and such.
