I have about 14 "Windows 2000 Hotfix" entries in the in "Add/Remove" section
of my Control Panel.

This morning it was recommended (by a computer salesman) that I remove all
of these entries; he calimed doing so would cause no problems and that it
would substantially speed up my IBM Thinkpad T22.

Comments/suggestions? (The basic issue is that it takes forever - several
minutes - for Windows 2000 to load each time I turn on the machine.

Thank you!!

I would not remove them. Those hotfixes are installed to fix problems and
patch security vulnerabilities in the Windows Operating System. Removing
these will only make your PC more succeptable to attack, removing these will
not speed up your PC.

That is an appropriate answer from a computer salesman.
Next time as a competent computer tech.
You should not remove them unless you also are willing to compromise the
security of your computer.
