The problem is that I am running ie 6.0 and can not access the sites I was

Paul;
Open Internet Explorer.
Tools/Internet Options
Look under all tabs.
Where the option is available, select the option to use Default settings

Otherwise since this is a Windows Update newsgroup, ask this in an Internet
Explorer newsgroup:

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
