Removing latest Windows update

Today, I started having problems decoding binaries from
Usenet on both my desktop (Windows2000) and my notebook
(WindowsXP). This was happening no matter what program I
used or which news server I tried. The only thing I can
think of that they had in common since yesterday was the
automatic Windows update (KB867801) today.

I did a system restore on my notebook in Windows XP to a
point before the update and now I can decode binaries
again! Is there a way to remove the recent update in
Windows2000? What else can I try? Why would this update
interfere with decoding binaries in both Windows XP and
2000?

If you have the very latest update of Zone Alarm on board this could be your
problem. It has been reported on several other NGs.
Suggest you turn off Zone Alarm and try again.

Richard.

I'm having similar problems and I don't have Zone Alarm. How can I remove this update?

It's in Add/Remove Programs as 'Internet Explorer Q867801' under XP.

Installed and in use without problems, however I don't use a MS program
for newsgroup binaries here.
