Try doing a reinstall then uninstall if you have the Office 97 install disk.
If that does not work.
Open back the Run Command
type in MSCONFIG
OK
Under 'General' (tab) > Startup select 'Diagnostic Startup'
Click 'OK'
Restart when prompted
Try uninstalling the Office 97 Professional then
Open back the Run Command
type in MSCONFIG
OK
Under 'General' (tab) > Startup select 'Normal Startup'
Click 'OK'
Restart when prompted
