If the problems did not appear until after SP1, then we might want to
determine if SP1 is the culprit.
As far as removing/reinstalling Exchange, yes, it can be done (according to
prior posts), but keep in mind that Exchange and IIS are intertwined.
Here is a post from last year:
"Yes, you can reinstall exchange; put in CD 1 and then make sure nothing
else is selected and then enter maintenance mode on the reinstall and that
should work." and then this followup post was made by a Microsoft support
person: "The /reinstall switch for E2K is a great way to back fill the
installation. After the reinstall, I always suggest reapplying the Exchange
service pack. You can also select Add/Remove Programs, then Small Business
Server 2000. When you arrive at the Component Selection screen, place Small
Business Server 2000 into "maintainence" and place Exchange Server 2000
into "reinstall", then hit next and so on."
