Removing SP3 Files

My machine downloaded the SP3 files which I don't want to install any more.
I already tried 3 times to install it and each time it wouldn't complete due
to some error which I don't want to waste time investigating.
The Update shield keeps showing up in the system tray and it's starting to
annoy me. So, how do I get rid of the install files and install shield in
the tray?
Thanks in advance
Lenny

Turn off Automatic Updates and check each month (after the second Tuesday)
manually at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ ...

Have you opened a free support incident? (See below.)

I can tell you how to remove the download and "hide" SP3 but...

1. Free support is only available until April 2009; and...

2. If WinXP SP3 isn't installed by April 2010, you will not be offered any
further updates.

How to troubleshoot an unsuccessful installation of WinXP SP3

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows
XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"
