Removing/uninstalling KB891781

Hi -
I need to remove/uninstall KB891781. However, in Add/Remove programs, I am
told "This update cannot be removed" and there is no Remove button.

Running XP Pro SP2 logged on with Administrator rights. Computer is not
part of a domain.

Any ideas/suggestions?

What about a system restore to the point before the update was installed?

Well, first a question. Why do you need to remove that update?

The fact that it has no Remove button in Add&Remove Programs indicates that
either it was not completely installed, that there is a problem with the
Registry, or that you aren't logged in with an Admin-level account (I know,
but try booting into Safe mode and use "the" Administrator account.).

You should also be able to remove it by using the
"C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB891781$\spuninst\spunins t.exe" file.

Try this:
1. Close Add/Remove Programs and Control Panel
2. Close all Internet Browsers
3. Click Start
4. Click Run
5. Type or copy the following: %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallKB891781$\spuninst
6. Double-click the icon for the application Uninst.exe. This will start a
wizard.
7. Click Next to let it scan, and Yes, to confirm you wish to uninstall this
update no matter what other software it might affect.
8. Allow it to finish

Verify through whatever criteria you are using that the hotfix has been
uninstalled.

Let us know how this goes.
