removing update notice

in my notification area is an icon for update. When I click it, I see that
tyere is available an important update for Windows Mail.

But I have never used Windows Mail and don't want the update. Can I get that
icon out of there?

I also cannot now merely click Start/Sleep because the Sleep icon now says it
will instead install the update and shut down the computer (so to sleep I have
now to do the extra clicks, which is a minor inconvenience).

Thanks (and thanks to RR for the answer to my previous question).

Open Windows Update, View available Updates, right-click on it, select Hide
update

ha! so simple, but only in retrospect. I had thought that Windows Update was a
browser window. Didn't it used to be in XP? But I guess it's not anymore,
since it has the right-click functionality. Thank you, Dave.

Can I use Windows Update to look for any update to my NVidia display driver?
Or do I have to go to NVidia's site for that?

The "Check for more products" link seems to be only for Microsoft products
like Office.

Go to Nvidia's site for those drivers
