Hi everybody,

Is it safe to change the PCs name in the system settings?

I remember in W2K there was an issue with renaming the PC. There was a tool
necessary (I forgot the name) to change the name completely.

FYI: The PC has got a virgin instalation, no software installed. I would
like to duplicate the installation on 30 PCs and punch in the activation key
later.

Thanks for your time.

Ole

No, there shouldn't be a problem at all, just as long as the machine name is
unique if its going to be on a network with other machines.

You can call your machine whatever you want. Most users, after struggling
with Vista, end up calling it something like "Vista Sux".

Cheers.

Hello Ole,

You have to SYSPREP the machine to remove the SID like in every windows version,
have a look here for Vista:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true
