How to repair Vista off a USB hard drive

I am new here. I am having problems with my computer. See it wouldn't
browse the internet even when the internet was clearly connected. So I
decided to do a system restore. I have system restored before but this
time something went wrong. It won't boot up. So I was wondering if I
could use a USB HDD to repair my computer.

It was running "Windows Vista Home Premium 32x" It is an Acer Aspire
computer.

With an ACER, you would only have the "back to factory" option for recovery.

Download the correct version of a simple Vista Repair ISO file from the
above site, make a bootable disk, reboot and do a startup repair.

When you say "it won't boot" to what state does it get?

I would use the F8 or if you get the menu, choose 'Last Known Good'.

First of all, avoid the Geek Squad or any other service part of a big
box store. Those are typically the poorest service you can find.

Look for a smaller company that does computer service. It can be hard
to choose one over the others, but try to get recommendations from
other users. If you have a PC Users Group in your community, that can
be a good place to ask for recommendations.
