Repeated DirectX 9.0a end user runtime update

I keep getting DirectX 9.0b end user runtime update
coming up. It is on a fresh install of 98SE. After I do
the update, if I do dxdiag, it only shows up as DirectX
6.1a,

Not only that, you should be looking for DirectX 9.0c - it was posted a
while ago.

Thanks guys. I tried Jupiters link and downloaded
DirectX 9 and when I went to install it, it said that it
needs a pentium processor or better to run - the computer
is old and only has some sort of Cyrix CPU inside so I
guess that is why it was repeating,

Hello,

Earlier Cyrix CPUs will not support the latest versions of Direct X.
Probably would be best to bypass this one.
