Do you remember the KB929338 install looping threads? The very same
applies to KB931784 too - like *all* kernel updates BTW.
So, what to do to get it fixed?
Try downloading the update manually via DownloadCenter:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...D=eeaee4a7-485...
*Save* the file to a folder your harddisk (let me call it "C:\Downloads"),
do *not* execute it from within your browser.
Afterwards type the following under "Run" in the Start menu:
"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB9231784-x86-ENU.exe" /o
The parameter "/o" (o like overwriteOEM) should do the trick for you.
Note the blank between the last quote sign and the parameter /o!
Bye,
Freudi

| Hi. Some time ago I applied update KB931784, and it shows up in my "Add or
| Remove Programs List." But my computer continuously says I need to install
| it, and when I do, it just repeats that I need to install it. When I go to
| the Windows Update site itself, it too says I need to install it, and it does
| this no matter how many times I install it. The only way I can stop is to
| make this a hidden update. What is going on here? I am concerned that
| somehow the update is not taking. Thanks for any help. Sanford.
