I keep getting a message from windows update to reboot. I reboot and the
message is immediately back.

I am assuming you'яe using Windows Vista as you failed to state what OS you're
using.

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the
computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista
