Repeatedly Asked To Download/Install Same Patch

Although I've completely and successfully installed every available update, I
find that I'm being asked (daily!) to download and install KB828026 (Critical
Media Player Patch). Every time, the installation is flagged as
"successful," but within 24 hours I'm hit with another request to download it.

Any idea as to problem and solution?

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!

Thanks for the link, which is a good start to a possible solution. One
hitch, though: I'm using Windows-ME, so some of the instructions on the link
don't apply. I can figure it all out though, except for one step: I don't
have an option on Windows-ME to uninstall the Media Player... or at least I
couldn't find it within any of the "Remove Program" or "Remove Windows
Components" areas of the operating system.

Any info. as to how to remove Media Player using Windows-ME would therefore
prove helpful, as I can then perform the rest of the fix.
