repeating update, won't go away

Hello,
Does anyone have any idea as to why the windows update icon keeps appearing
for via technologies-networking-via rhine II fast ethernet adapter? The first
time it came up, it said it had installed successfully, but now it continues
to come up repeatedly, and each time says unable to install successfully.

In the future get drivers directly from the manufacturers web site and not
from Microsoft.

If the driver comes up as a Critical Update, there is normally a good reason
and you should consider getting the driver at that time from the
manufacturer.
If the driver is not critical and everything is working fine, do not install
the newer driver

Right click My Computer
Click Properties
Click Hardware tab
Click Windows Update button
Make appropriate selections.
