I have been receiving a message from Windows Update indicating the KB936181
needs to be installed din 4/18/2008. Windows Update History shows this
update has been SUCCESSZFULLY installed daily since 4/18.

I am also seeing indications that device drivers for USB devices are also
being repetively installed.

Any ideas?

I'm sorry, this is happening on Vista Home Premium on two machines; one with
Service Pack 1 and the other without it.

Also KB936181 is listed as SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED in the Windows Update
History presentation at least once every day since 4/18. It appears to be
installing it OK and I guess using it. However, if you watch the right side
of the application toolbar at the bottom of the main Windows screen, all of a
sudden the icon indicating updates are available will show up. Even though I
have just installed it apparently successfully, less than 5 minues later it
appears again as needing to be installed.

First : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941729
Rename msxml4.dll as shown in the KB article

IF KB936181 is listed in Programs & Features [Installed Programs] click
the Remove button and choose the *REPAIR* option.

IF it is NOT listed, download another copy of it from the link on the KB
article and *save* it.
When the download is finished close all open programs and browsers
REMOVE KB936181 via Programs & Features [Installed Programs]
Restart *only* if prompted to. See Note below

*Right* click msxml4-KB936181-enu.exe and choose 'Run as administrator'
Follow the prompts
Reboot afterwards

Note: IF msxml4.dll can not be renamed in normal Windows mode, restart
the system to Safe Mode and rename it from within there.

HP printer software can lock msxml4.dll and prevent it from being
swapped out and replaced by the copy included in the update.
