I used PowerDesk file manager under XP. It sorta works under Vista,
just wondering if there's something better, or maybe everyone's now
using Windows Explorer rather than third-party file managers?

Total Commander from http://www.ghisler.com/ is 100% Vista compatible.

The "best" is probably Directory Opus, but it isn't cheap.

It also depends what you're going to use the shell for. If you need to
move a large number of files around all the time the following isn't a
good choice. However if you mainly want to move/copy a few files now
and then, also need a great image converter/viewer, thumbnail creator,
video/graphic player that supports 400 different file types, has a
small footprint, and it totally free check out XnView, I use it all
the time. It also does batch renaming, screen capture, edit metadata,
extract frames from movies converting to still images, makes slide
shows in a few mouse clicks and lots more.

The price is right for Windows Explorer. I suppose that not everybody is
using it, but every club member's computer that I have visited during the
past 5 years is (200 +- per year).

What version are you using? I have PD Pro 5, tends to get flaky at
times under Vista. Also, nothing appears in the SendTo menu, haven't
figured out how to re-populate that yet...

Nope, didn't know about that, have installed dozens of software titles
under Vista without much of a problem so far...

Thanks, I'll check that out. Anyone happen to know how this compares
to PowerDesk?

Is there any way to change the font?
