Thanks for your reply; it actually reversed my fortunes on updating!
There are lots of guys like me who do scientific work but can not get the
upgrade to come through! Kudos to you!

I have no idea what you are talking about. When responding to something -
it is best to keep your response connected to the same conversation as the
one you are referring to or at least include some of said conversation.

In essence - you have walked up to a complete stranger on a roadside and
finished a conversation they know nothing about and was likely started
hours/days ago with someone else in a completely different location. ;-)

Stick around, Shenan. One acquires paranormal skills from working this
NG. Then we speculate as to what is being referred to and just say
" You're welcome. Glad to hear the issue has been resolved. "
Then we head down to the local watering hole and attempt to decipher
mystical posts. <hic>

The post was about registering msxml3.dll.
The symptoms were:

Clicking the failed icon on the Windows Update History page did not
function, which is *usually* an xml issue.

Sometimes the popup blocker is also blocking clicking on the failed icon from functioning.
If you can't get the pop up, you can't run the function.

Here is another feature I discoverd:
By clicking on the RED-UNSUCCESSFUL icon, it turned to a grayed out icon
with a minus sign, clicking it again turned all UP-GRADES to GREEN! How about
that? So my problem was resolved by simply doubel-clicking on the
unsuccessful icons. Why? I don't know, but it was so beautiful to see the
resolution of something so bewildering. I say, plant tulips, drink a Heineken
and try a herring1 Eef!
