Hello

I just got a new computer the other week with Vista Home Premium. I spent
some time to work out how to get all my contacts from Incredimail over to
Windows Mail so I could start using that but I wanted to use the messenger
IM as well so I could see when my family are online. However I cannot, for
the life of me, work out how to get my contacts from Windows Contacts/Mail
over to Windows Live Messenger without having to do it all individually. I
have been able to import all my contacts into Windows Live Hotmail...how do
I then get it to messenger??

Can someone please help me. I have followed the instructions to no avail!

I have finally been able to get all my contacts into Live Hotmail and Live
Messenger. However, I have encountered another problem....!

I cant move the contacts into their separate folders - ie family, co
workers, friends etc. When I move the contact it actually stays on the 'Non
Instant Messenging Contacts' List and doesnt display on the 'friends' or
'family' lists. But if I go to edit the group, I find that they have been
allocated to the group, it just doesnt display in messenger or hotmail for
me...so it looks like I havent moved it and therefore the folders become no
help to me whatsoever.

Can anyone please advise? Thanks!

Greetings,

That's because they're already in those groups. Messenger just isn't showing them there
because of your current sorting settings.

Just open the main Messenger window, press Alt on the keyboard, choose the Contacts menu,
then Sort contacts by, and uncheck 'Group non-instant messaging contacts together' by
clicking on it.
