If someone has a URL in their status message you can't click it, you have to
open a chat then cut'n'paste into the browser
Call me silly but isn't that a lot of extra work?!

Greetings,

It's a security feature to prevent people from clicking links accidently.

In fact if the security people had their way, no URLs would be clickable in Messenger.

oh gosh, let's keep the security folks under control (the sky is falling, the
sky is falling)
force the click to get user confirmation, and/or run it through the IE7
phishing filter - don't just block thigs because then users resort to hacks
and work-arounds like MSN Plus that (potentially) make the platform less
secure!

Hi,

I completely agree with you. I don't think they really would resort to killing off all the
links unless their competitors did too. That's not likely to happen.

all users should wear boxing gloves and mouth guards in case they fall asleep
and brain themselves on the keyboard trying to respond to all the Vista
security dialogues
I'm not a fan of knee-jerk reactions (to perceived security threats in MSFT
product or terrorists on planes - I'm not going to kill anyone with my
toothpaste!) and some smart workflow with automated checking/warning could
make things so much more secure (in the web space at least)
A lot is about education
