'require password on wakeup' is reset by application

I have turned off the 'require password on wakeup' option on my laptop
and Vista does not prompt me for a password after wakeup from sleep or
hibernation. That is until I run Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.0, after which
I have to enter my password on wakeup. I can manually switch off the
password prompt again, and have done so many times, but I really would
like to stop this automatic reset. PowerDVD does not have any options
regarding the wakeup password and I don't see any options in Vista
that would prevent an application from altering the power management
setup.

Does anyone else have a similar problem and/or a solution?

Hi,

Have you contact Cyberlink about this issue with their software yet?

That's a good idea, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I
have the free OEM version of PowerDVD that that does not come with
support. I did check the publicly accessible FAQ's on the Cyberlink
website and they do not mention this particular problem.

I was hoping that someone else might have run into a similar problem
either with PowerDVD or another application and could help me out.

Hi,

I don't use that software, so there's not much I can tell you about it. I do
see that Cyberlink also has an updates page for users of Vista, you may want
to check to see if any apply to you:

I've been having the same problem using PowerDVD Version 5.0.
contacted CyberLink on their website to ask them about this problem
and they said that it was happening because my version is not Vist
compatible. And of course recommended that I upgrade to the lates
version of the program. I think I'll pass, considering that there ar
plenty of free DVD players available. The only reason I used i
was because it was free, it came with my other CyberLink software that
got when I bought my digital camcorder

I will say that the PowerProducer program that was part of the packag
is pretty good. You can do some serious video editing before burning t
DVD, or just import a .avi and burn it straight to a DVD without missin
around. Not sure if it's worth $40, though
