Are you using *any* build of Windows Live Mail desktop beta?
If so, this problem was encountered on their board, but to recap -
Open WLMd. Go to Menus, Tools, Options. Click the Compose Tab.
Under Business Cards, click Edit. Click on the Contact sidebar. If there is
a nick name displayed (and it is the same as this nickname as the one you
are trying to get rid of) - delete it. Click Save.
Log out of WLMd and shutdown WLM. Then re-open both of them. You should now
be able to change your nickname in WLM.
Hope this helps.
