Reset Update log

After a motherboard upgrade, I reinstalled Windows XP over the existing
version on harddisk. Of course all settings were lost since the registry was
rebuild from scratch. However; Windows update seems to remember exactly all
updates and therefore refuses to install them (including sp2). How can I
reset this, since my installation is from the good old not upgraded CD-ROM?

You can workaround this problem by using Belarc Advisor (www.belarc.com) and
the Windows Update Catalog.
Belarc will tell you which patches are broken on your box, and you can
download them for offline install from the Catalog
