Resolution to installing KB912919

Struggled to repeatedly install this update on XP pro SP2, getting error msg
0x8007F004. From clue in earlier post that it might be antivirus (in my case
Sophos) getting in the way, performed install via "Shutdown" approach (ie
"Install Updates and Shutdown" - the update was waiting to install via
Automatic Updates)... this worked OK.

Hope this might help others struglling with above.

no because the updates don't even come down.

Similar to my solution - I opened up the program manager and killed
nearly every background process except essential Windows processes, then
installed. Then it worked.

one of the several hundred things I tried, as well as uninstalling many
things.
doesn;t fix win installer issue.
