"Restart to finish installing" window won't go away

For several days (at least), a window with the following message has been a
permanent and unwelcome fixture in the lower right-hand corner of my screen:

"Restart your computer to finish installing important updates." It goes on
to say that Windows can't finish installing recent updates unless the
computer is restarted, and blah, blah, blah (Vista has taught me to hate
Windows, and I won't look at the offending window just to retype the drivel
in it). It has a restart button at the bottom of the window, as well as a
"postpone" (or some similar word) button. You can choose to postpone the
restart for 10 min, 1 hour, or a couple other choices, none of which is
"FOREVER."

Needless to say, I have re-started my pc dozens of times since this problem
began, and in every way I can think of. NOTHING WORKS. This is the sort of
Microsoft madness that Mac users thrive on--"Steve" would never do this to
his users. Is there anyone out there who knows how to get rid of this window?
Of course, Microsoft on-line help is totally USELESS in resolving this and
every other problem I have ever had with a Microsoft product. I know only one
solution that is certain to stop it: pulverize the computer. I am getting
there, but ...

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Thanks a lot for nothing, you stuoid jerk. Why can't a Microsoft "Most
Valuable Player" just answer a question about a problem that Microsoft
created, rather than send me down another dead end website, to take out a
"complaint ticket?" Or why didn't you just initiate the request, and get the
problem solved, rather than force me to waste another evening trying to clean
up a mess crerated by Microsoft. I know why: it's too much work for an
overpaid stuffed shirt like you.

MVPs are not employed by MS.

BTW - The reboot required message is generated in the registry key
.....HKEY_LOCA........................ oops, sorry, you don't want help, you
just want to complain about MVPs.

Have a good day. I don't want to waste any more of my precious time either.

Bye
