In the last couple of months when terminal serviced into various windows
2000/2003 servers I have had difficulty restarting the servers. I assume it
is a recent security patch that was applied but this is what is happening. I
have a TS session to a server, then I run windows update to patch. When I get
prompted to restart after the patch I initiate the restart but the server
does not restart. When I look at the event logs it shows an event id of 1074
and the following description:
The process svchost.exe has initiated the restart of computer EX2 on behalf
of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this
reason could be found
Reason Code: 0x80070020
Shutdown Type: restart
Comment:
However, the computer does not restart and if I try to restart again it
works. EVen if I am terminal serviced into a server and try to restart it
when not using windows update I still havethis problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Alex
