"K Redding,"
If you are all concerned about these documents, please reboot into Safe Mode
or Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
1. Reboot the machine
2. As soon as the machine powers off and starts to power up again, start
pressing F8 every one second or so, until you see a menu.
3. Move to the choice Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
4. When the system boots up, copy off the latest documents first onto a
floppy drive or another storage device, such as a USB memory stick, etc.
Feel free to reboot, or use msconfig here to set up the system restore and
go back to a date before this instability. Finally, let me add that you
should start the updates one at a time. I realize this is mundane and
monotonous, but it will help to further debug the problem in knowing which
update encountered it, versus all subsequent updates having the same issue.
Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]
