I think I am having the same problem. I was notified by the yellow update
alert that I needed an update over a week ago. I downloaded and installed
the update, restarted and the yellow symbol is still there. Is this what is
happening to you and does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't know when anyone will see these messages, so I will try some other
things and find and answer for us. I am able to get into my Windows update
though. It even shows that the update was installed successfully. I have a
feeling it has something to do with firewalls etc. Just a guess. I'll try
and get back to you when I get some more information.

solution is that u can uninstall service pack 2 if u have that because that
may have been the problem .
I removed it last night night and i do not have any problem with windows
update and there is no small yellow button.
hope that help.

Thanks! I just disabled my firewall and it had the same effect. So, now I no
longer have the yellow button either and I know my updates are there. My
firewall is enabled again also. All is good. You beat me to the solution.
Good job.
