Alrite my laptop is around a year old, it worked fine for 7-8 months but
after that my computer restarted on its own accord soetimes. As the
months have passed it became more frequent and now it happens at least
10 times a week. Everytime it restarts a blue screen comes where is is
given that the computer is puting the data in a crash dump. And it shows
the percentage of the data -dumped, -this gets over in abput 5 seconds
so i cant read everything written on it. And then the computer restarts
and the "start windown normally, with network connections, in safe mode"
screen appears.
Also after i put the compter for hibernate for a night, it normally
dumps again when i reopen it after 3-4 hours in the morning.
Another thing i remembered seeing on that blue page is CHDSK if that
helps.

Please help!

Hi Hidden, go ahead and do CHDSK to see if there are HDD problem. If it
gets to the point you can't stand it, you may consider reinstall or
factory recover your OS to eliminate virus or other software problems.

Other then that, I would think it is more of an overheat problem. Try
to take down the pc and blow out the heat sink and other components with
can air if you are handy enough. If not just try to blow air in from
the intake vent to get as much dust out as possible. By ther way,
always sit your pc on the hard flat surface not pillow or such.

Another thing you may try is shake the table to see if it will shut
down on its own. If so, it may have been the monitor cable gets bad
contact or solder joints has come loose which happens to lots of IBM
Thinkpad units. Then, it is pretty much nothing you can do about it.

Hope this helps,

Bruce

go into event viewer and look for the error message in the System
folder there - report back with details of the error found

90% chance you are having a hardware problem (potential failure coming up)
To get the blue screen information:
Right-click on "computer" and choose 'properties'
Then on the left side of the screen choose 'Advanced System Settings'
Then in the 'Startup and Recovery' section click on the "Settings" button
Then uncheck the box in front of 'Automatically Restart"
This will stop the computer from restarting itself before you copy the error data.

Over-heating on laptops is a major issue and if you let it go past the warrantee period you will pay big bucks for repair.
