Restore From Back up

I need help recovering my backed up files. It was suggested that I use a NT
restore utility Windows NT Backup - Restore Utility for Vista

I used this utility to recover my back up like suggested and now after 30
min of file transfer to my C: Drive I can't seem to locate any files ? I
have tried this 3 times now and getting frustrated . Can someone please tell
me how to get my files back and restored to Windows Vista ?

I need step by step instructions ,I figured that by using the restore
utility everything would be back to the original state but nothing is there
after the Data Transfer from my External Hard Drive back to my C;Drive.

When I originally backed up the data I used my XP Back Up utility and after
the Upgrade to Vista the Restore Utility was all grayed out and would not
allow me to restore from back up.

I appreciate any kind of assistance I can get from the group how to get my
files back.

Just wanted to let you all know that I got my back up fixed . I just needed
to get a destination file loaded in the proper place for the back up to go.
